I sometimes feel like the point of vacation is to make you miss your home, so upon your return you have an overwhelming feeling of gratitude at seeing your precious front door. I am so happy to be back in my home after 7 days away.
Now, don’t get me wrong, vacation is amazing. This time I traveled with my father and my brother’s family to our favorite spot on the East Coast, Anna Maria Island, FL. We celebrated life, birthdays, and our triumphs. We remembered both my Grandmother and Mother, who’s ashes we spread at sea… setting their souls free to return to the beach, the birds, the Lord, and all they held true. We got to see incredible sunsets, jumping dolphins, majestic manatees, and of course precious extended family. And with all these memorable experiences on my mind’s bulletin board, the one that I will cherish most is the sense of calm that exists within me.
It’s almost as if the tranquility of the beach, the power of the waves, the warmth of the sun, the generosity of family filled my heart in such a way that I will remember this trip for a very long time as a true thanksgiving. My soul has been refueled and my family are once again in close tow.
So let peace begin with me, as one of my favorite christmas song rejoices. Peace begins with all of us. It starts as an ember in our hearts and radiates out to all we meet. “This little light of mine, I am going to let it shine… Let it shine… Let it shine… Let it shine.”
Happy Thanksgiving 2019. That’s a wrap. Now, get back to work for a bit so we can celebrate the holidays in style.
